Let’s understand the idea.
- The number before the colon names the hour. The two digits after it name the minutes after that hour.
- Choose the hour, then the minutes. Watch both hands move: the short hand travels a little while the long hand travels a lot.
- Try five minutes later. What happens when you move from :55 to the next hour?
Something to notice
Ask the learner to read an unfamiliar analog clock, explain how each hand helps, and write the time. Give an explicit morning or afternoon context for a.m./p.m.; the hands alone cannot identify it. Check five minutes before an hour and the transition through noon and midnight. Transfer to real clocks requires observation.
