Let’s understand the idea.
- The distance from 0 to 1 is one whole. Partition that interval into equal lengths to create a fractional unit.
- Start at zero and repeat the same-length hop. The total distance is a fraction, and its endpoint marks that fraction as a number.
- Passing 1 does not restart the count. Every whole interval is the same size, however much of the line is on screen.
Something to notice
Ask the learner to partition the zero-to-one whole, identify the endpoint of its first interval, then locate an unfamiliar fraction beyond one. Count intervals separately from tick marks. The API checks the chosen unit and hops or a written fraction, not an oral explanation. Equivalence and comparison follow separately.
