Let’s understand the idea.
- Read the whole story and identify what the question asks. Keep every quantity attached to what it counts.
- Separate three roles: number of groups, amount in each group and the total. Work out which role is missing.
- Choose an equation that represents that relationship. Solve it, check with the original quantities, and give the answer its meaning.

Observe the learner retelling a new story, identifying units and relevant quantities, explaining an alternative equation and solving without the provided role cards.
