9 practice questions · Optional read aloud · Thinking pad

Let’s understand the idea.

  1. One meter keeps the same size when you choose another equal piece size.
  2. The piece count changes with the piece size; the ribbon length stays the same.
  3. Multiply the pieces in one ribbon by the ribbon count to find all the pieces.

Something to notice

Ask the learner to point to one meter and explain what stays the same when pieces are renamed or a ribbon is split. Invite a different valid route without demonstrating the answer. Oral, child and educator evidence remains to be collected.

Try it. Change it. Explain it.

Open the lesson to use its pictures and controls. In How it works, connect the picture to the idea. In Play & discover, change the quantities and notice what stays the same. In Your turn, answer questions and use the explanation to check your reasoning.

You can ask for help, draw on the thinking pad, or listen to the question and answer options. Progress distinguishes independent work from work completed with help.
