Let’s understand the idea.

  1. Read whether the task asks for aligned digits, a full written record, a repaired step or just the exact result.
  2. Carry units and exchanges retain their meanings when the operands change.
  3. Keep internal zeros and the one-million boundary accurate.
  4. Use a fresh inverse check after computing. Revisit new examples later and explain the method in your own words.

Something to notice

Watch for transfer to unfamiliar zero positions, operand lengths and carry chains. Compare supported work with an unaided fresh attempt. Mixed task completion samples methods and exact results; meaningful fluency also requires accurate, increasingly efficient use over time.

Try it. Change it. Explain it.

Open the lesson to use its pictures and controls. In How it works, connect the picture to the idea. In Play & discover, change the quantities and notice what stays the same. In Your turn, answer questions and use the explanation to check your reasoning.

You can ask for help, draw on the thinking pad, or listen to the question and answer options. Progress distinguishes independent work from work completed with help.
