8 practice questions · Optional read aloud · Thinking pad

Let’s understand the idea.

  1. Name one original unit and the amount available.
  2. Split material fairly or count groups of the stated size.
  3. Use multiplication to reconstruct the original amount.

Something to notice

Invite a learner to tell a new story for a unit fraction divided by a whole number, then for wholes divided into fraction-sized groups. Ask them to identify the original unit and explain the inverse multiplication. Record actual words and assistance; a correct entry is not an observed explanation.

Try it. Change it. Explain it.

Open the lesson to use its pictures and controls. In How it works, connect the picture to the idea. In Play & discover, change the quantities and notice what stays the same. In Your turn, answer questions and use the explanation to check your reasoning.

You can ask for help, draw on the thinking pad, or listen to the question and answer options. Progress distinguishes independent work from work completed with help.
