12 practice questions · Optional read aloud · Thinking pad

Let’s understand the idea.

  1. Name the original whole and the number of recipients.
  2. A whole can be shared first or cut into equal pieces; every piece keeps its original identity.
  3. Multiply one equal share by the recipient count to reconstruct the original total.

Something to notice

Ask a learner to share seven identical bars among three recipients and explain why the amounts agree and reconstruct seven wholes. Record actual assistance, route and words; a completed typed record is not observed oral understanding.

Try it. Change it. Explain it.

Open the lesson to use its pictures and controls. In How it works, connect the picture to the idea. In Play & discover, change the quantities and notice what stays the same. In Your turn, answer questions and use the explanation to check your reasoning.

You can ask for help, draw on the thinking pad, or listen to the question and answer options. Progress distinguishes independent work from work completed with help.
