Let’s understand the idea.

  1. The title says what was recorded. Category names say which groups; the number scale says how many.
  2. Choose the counts the question actually asks about. Join groups, find a missing part, or compare their counts.
  3. A longer bar means a larger count. Equal bars mean equal counts; no bar means zero, not missing data.

Something to notice

Observe children choosing physical objects, using a real ruler, recording each measurement and constructing their own labeled graphs. The built-in data sets and screen measurements are authored examples, not records of real children. Whole-unit measuring pictures avoid halfway ties. Picture keys and bar scales count by ones. Software can check the recorded values and graph counts; it does not assess physical measuring technique, handwriting, independent graph-title choices or oral explanations. Mapping and practiced counts do not establish mastery.
