Move the ruler, keep the strip

Let’s understand the idea.
- The ruler's zero mark may be inside its edge. Match the zero mark, not the edge, with the strip's starting end.
- Keep the ruler straight along the strip. Once zero is aligned, read where the other end reaches.
- Sliding the ruler changes the numbers underneath the strip. It does not stretch or shrink the strip.
Something to notice
Ask the learner to select and use a real ruler, yardstick, meter stick or measuring tape for an appropriate object. Observe zero alignment, counting intervals, unit labels and end-to-end placement. The on-screen drawings are scaled representations, never actual-size rulers. Moving a ruler changes readings but not the object's length. Physical tool handling and independent explanations need observation.
