Let’s understand the idea.
- Rulers, yardsticks and meter sticks are straight length tools. Read their unit labels before measuring.
- A measuring tape can bend around a curved object. It also works along straight lengths when held straight.
- For a length longer than a stick, keep each measured part and place the next part end to end, with no gaps or overlaps.
Something to notice
Ask the learner to select and use a real ruler, yardstick, meter stick or measuring tape for an appropriate object. Observe zero alignment, counting intervals, unit labels and end-to-end placement. The on-screen drawings are scaled representations, never actual-size rulers. Moving a ruler changes readings but not the object's length. Physical tool handling and independent explanations need observation.
